Bridging the Cultures

On my recent travels to Africa, my tour guide Tingo of  ( took me to purchase jewelry. He guided me to a tiny shop where I met a sweet Kenyan woman, Elizabeth. I was overwhelmed by the collection of beautiful tribal jewelry. However, the colors, although beautiful, did not speak to me. I quickly realized the color combinations didn't include the colors of my African-American "tribes". The color combinations of my college alma mater, Florida A&M University's orange and green, and the colors of my sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority's pink and green were not available in any of the pieces of jewelry.
So, I asked Elizabeth to make pieces for me in my colors and the colors of the Divine, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) and the professional sports teams I like.  Needless to say, I was BLOWN AWAY by her designs of the traditional African style collars and necklaces in the uniquely African-American colors.

I hope you enjoy the designs and creations Elizabeth and I have created. Your patronage helps support a very talented artisan and enables us to continue and expand our collaboration!

As I continue to travel around Africa, my goal is to search for talented African artisans to create additional items to bridge the cultures.

If you would like a custom piece in colors that are not shown, please send me a message!  We would love to design and create pieces just for YOU!
